5 Roads to The End 39th Annual Haunted House Opens October 19th
Posted on Tuesday August 15, 2017

The Orange City Sorosis Club is busy scaring up new victims for our 39th Annual Haunted House! This year, 5 Roads to The End, will open on Thurs, Friday and Saturday nights from Oct 19TH through Oct 28TH.

The Orange City Sorosis Club evolves each Halloween with a different theme from the last. We have 5 different rooms with 5 different endings...Each room is designed around our theme and our set designers are working on their strategies to scare and horrify even the bravest.

We dare you to join us on an unimaginable journey where the spirits of both the living and the dead are led by their primal and most foreboding fears. Unimaginable horrors will make you fear for your sanity and your life. Enter into a world where terrifying dimensions exist... One road does  not always leads to another....sometimes ...you hit a dead end. At some point you will find yourself  trapped in our infamous maze which will plunge you into complete darkness forcing you to feel your way out. Nothing can prepare you for what lies ahead and your blood-curdling screams are just the beginning. Have you ever wondered what your last moment will be? We challenge you to tour 5 Roads to The End and get a glimpse into the many possibilities…..

It will take over 60 volunteers to transform our 3,000 square foot building into a functional tomb of terror. Last year we had over 2,500 visitors come through raising over $15,000. The monies we raise go toward charitable contributions benefiting area children such as scholarships and school supplies. We are in need of donations for the various costs associated with the production and creation of this event. Monetary donations are much appreciated and as we are a registered non-profit organization, your donation may be tax deductible.

 Our Collect

Keep us, O God, from Pettiness;
Let us be large in thought, in word, in deed.
Let us be done with fault-finding
And leave off self-seeking.
May we put away all pretense
And meet each other face to face,
Without self-pity and without prejudice.
May we never be hasty in judgment
And always generous.
Let us take time for all things;
Make us to grow calm, serene, gentle.
Teach us to put into action our better impulses,
Straightforward and unafraid.
Grant that we may realize it is the
Little things that create differences;
That in the big things of life we are at one.
And may we strive to touch and to know
The great, common human heart of us all,
And, O Lord God, let us forget not to be kind.

Mary Stewart,  April 1904

Our annual banquets are a time to celebrate the end of a successful year. Each meeting begins with The Pledge of Allegiance and reciting our Collect. We then discuss current events and upcomming programs.

A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU TO OUR SUPPORTERS, SPONSORS AND VOLUNTEERS
Posted on Monday January 04, 2016

      Sorosis Club’s 2015
Operation Santa

Thank you  so very much for contributing to our Operation Santa program!  Our 2015 Food and Toy Drive  was an amazing success made possible by your generosity. We are incredibly grateful for your efforts, whether as a supporter, sponsor or volunteer.

The Sorosis Club’s mission – the very reason we exist – is to contribute to the betterment of our community and promote the welfare of our youth. Our Operation Santa program is our greatest annual benefit and would not be possible without the support of our community.

Choosing what organization to donate to at Christmas time is not always easy and we are so grateful you chose to donate to Operation Santa. With your help, each of our Senior Citizens received a $30 gift card to a local grocery store. We served 80 families with children, 23 Senior Citizens and several low income individuals received a food box.  Each household received a turkey and trimmings along with milk, butter cheese, bread, and a week or so of non-perishable foods.  178 children each received 3 quality gifts selected specifically for them.  We also distributed games, books, puzzles, stocking stuffers, clothing, hats, shoes and blankets.  Your thoughtfulness brought hope and happiness into the hearts of those in need. We cannot think of a better way to celebrate the magic of Christmas. On behalf of our club members and volunteers who have made Operation Santa possible, thank you.

You can read more about our organization and our initiatives – and your important part in it – on our website by logging in at http://sorosiscluboforangecity.com. You can also find us on Facebook where you can find our current events information.

Have a Happy and Healthy New Year

Sincerely,

Happy New Year! Thank you to our generous donors
Posted on Saturday January 17, 2015

Happy New Year! We wish to take this opportunity to thank our donors.

Thanks to all of the generous donations received, 2014 Operation Santa served all of the families and Senior Citizens who applied for assistance. With your donations, Operation Santa was able to hand  out  over 75 food boxes and toys for nearly 200 children!

Special thanks go to the Orange City Lions Club, Orange City Walmart, The Manatee Festival, The Margarita Society, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the City of Orange City/Volusia County Employee Countywide food drive. Their donations, combined with contributions from individuals and businesses from all over the community, allowed Operation Santa to make Christmas brighter for so many families.

You are too many to be listed individually, however, without all of your generous contributions we would not have been able to help make Christmas more special for these families. We are looking forward to 2015, being just as successful.

Sincerely,
Operation Santa

Humanitarian Services
Posted on Sunday October 31, 2010

Fundraisers are held throughout the year to generate funds and donations. We also rent our spacious hall for weddings and other events. This allows our organization to provide school supplies, funds, and scholarships to area schools and children. Each year we host an Easter Egg Hunt and free lunch for any and all children who attend. Throughout the year we sponsor children in Little League, Pop Warner football/cheer leading and other sporting events they may otherwise never experience. Our single most important event of the year is our Christmas offering. We provide local families with groceries, a family sized turkey with trimmings, and gifts for all the children. Our Senior Citizens receive a generous gift card to use at a local grocery store. A few weeks before Christmas we host "Lunch or Dinner with Santa".Children eat for free and get to visit with Santa Clause and sometimes Mrs. Clause. You can help us achieve our goals through volunteering, donations and food drives. If you know a family in Orange City who needs our assistance please have them give us a call. We can help.

The Sorosis Club of Orange City is a women's civic organization which was formed in 1958. A group of local women banded together to build a youth hall for the children of Orange City after the original hall was destroyed in a fire. The idea was to raise funds to have the hall rebuilt, and upon its completion, to continue care and maintain the hall for future generations. Through the hard-working efforts of the Sorosis Women and generous donations from local residents and Merchants, the hall was completed in the early 1960's and continues to operate today.

Sorosis: Meaning of the Word:
A term related to "sorority," which is derived from the Latin word soror or sister. The term "sororize" has sometimes been used as a parallel to "fraternize."
